MarkingPro
Examination marking

Marking that shows its working.

MarkingPro reads handwritten answer books, marks every question against your marking scheme, and quotes the student's own words beside every mark. You approve before anything is released.

For universities and colleges in East Africa.

Sixty percent should go to social media since most customers in town use WhatsApp and Instagram, and the remaining amount to search adverts.
We should review the dashboard every fortnight and move budget from the channel with the highest cost.

THE WORKHundreds of scripts, marked by hand, over weeks.Every page read, every criterion weighed, every total added.
THE RISKYou answer for every mark when a student appeals.“Why six and not eight?” needs an answer you can show.
THE PROMISEA mark is never awarded without its evidence. The student's own words, the page and the line, beside every mark.
How it works

Three steps. You confirm each one.

Nothing moves on without you: you check the guide, you see what was read, and you approve the marks.

1THE MARKING SCHEME

Upload the scheme. Check the guide it becomes.

A PDF of your marking scheme becomes a structured guide: every question, every criterion, every mark, and rules such as “attempt any 3 of 4”. You confirm it before a single script is read.

Upload the scripts, scanned on a phone.

Phone-scanned PDFs are normal. The registration number is read from the cover, every page is read in order, and each answer is matched to its question.

3YOUR DECISION

Review the evidence. Approve.

Each mark is shown with the words that earned it. One press approves a clean script; anything flagged waits for you, with the reason in plain words.

Results released only on approval
Evidence, not opinion

A mark is only ever awarded with the student's own words beside it.

This is the screen where you decide: the scanned page, the answer as it was read with its evidence highlighted, and the mark waiting for you.

The record keeps the suggested mark, your mark, your note and the time you decided.

If a criterion is not met, it says why.You see what the scheme asked for and what the answer gave.
A second marker checks the first.A disagreement becomes a warning you see before approving. Awards are never silently removed.
Nothing is dropped.Writing it could not place on a question is set aside for you, not guessed.
Built for how we examine here

Answer books, registration numbers, phone scans.

Made for bound answer books and handwritten scripts, not typed essays.

01Bound answer booksThe cover grid and the candidate's registration number box are read as they are. Marking is by registration number, never by name.
02Registration numbers on every pageThey are matched, so a script whose pages were scanned out of order is still read as one script.
03Swahili and English in one scriptA student who changes language mid-answer is read and marked against the same scheme.
04“Attempt 3 of 4”Optional questions, best-of rules and part marks are honoured, and shown in the guide you confirm.
05Phone-scanned PDFsSkewed pages and shadows are ordinary input. No new scanners are needed.
06Budgeted in TZSPlans are set in the currency your department budgets in.
For the examination office

Every mark can be defended.

A result is a record: what was awarded, for which words, and who approved it.

A trail for every markEach mark traces to a criterion, a page and a line, with the lecturer who approved it and when.
A second marker on every scriptA second pass reviews each award. Disagreements become warnings; awards are never silently removed.
Released only on approvalNo result leaves the system without a lecturer's press. Once locked, it is the official result.
Class results and reportsExport results by course and class as PDF, spreadsheet or Word document.
Colleagues and rolesAn administrator adds colleagues by name and email and sets what each can do: mark, approve, administer.
Your scripts stay yoursScripts are kept in your institution's workspace and are not used to train models.
Said plainly

What MarkingPro will not do.

It is a marking assistant for the examiner. These are its limits, stated rather than hidden.

×It will not release a result on its own.A lecturer approves every script, and flagged questions must be reviewed by a person.
×It will not guess at a page it cannot read. The page is shown to you and the answer is set aside until you decide.
×It will not hide how it reads your scripts.Scripts are read by an AI model (Google's) to produce marks and evidence. The privacy notice sets this out in full.

Questions people ask

Asked by heads of department, answered plainly.

Something not here? Write to hello@marking-pro.com.

Does the system decide the final mark?

No. The lecturer approves every script, and flagged questions must be reviewed by a person. Results are not released without approval.

What if it reads a word wrongly?

The quoted evidence sits beside the mark, so a misread word is visible rather than hidden. Anything the second marker disagrees with is flagged before approval, and you can change any mark.

Where do our scripts go?

Scripts are stored in your institution's workspace and are read by an AI model (Google's) to produce marks and evidence. They are not used to train models. The privacy notice sets this out in full.

Does it work with our marking schemes?

Yes. Upload the scheme as a PDF; it becomes a structured guide you confirm before marking. Optional questions, “attempt 3 of 4” and part marks are supported.

Can a student appeal?

Yes, and this is where the system helps. Every mark has a criterion, a quote, a page and a line, and a record of who approved it.

What happens to a script it cannot read?

It is set aside for you, with the pages it could not read shown. Nothing is dropped and nothing is guessed.

Do we need new scanners?

No. A phone scan to PDF is enough. Sixteen pages are read in about a minute.

Can it mark in Swahili?

Yes. Swahili and English, including both within the same answer.
